My Top 5 with Wedding Soiree

I cannot think of a better way to kick off the year than to feature one of my favorite event planners, Gail Johnson of Wedding Soiree! She and Hester Parks make a super talented duo creating flawless events that leave you talking about it long after the event is over. For them, it's all about the details and we certainly got lots of eye candy viewing one of their weddings recently featured on Platinum Weddings.

I had the opportunity to ask Gail my "Top 5" questions and here they are (we got an extra one in there too).

I. What are the most important elements in creating a wedding story for your clients?
The most important elements of any wedding story are the bride, groom and the wedding vows. This is the true wedding story.

II. What services do you offer?
We offer specialized wedding services to our clients based on their needs. For example, if a client wants a personal assistant for the day of the wedding, we can provide a trained assistant to pick up her wedding dress, press the groom’s tuxedo shirt and much more…

III. What’s in your emergency kit?
The better question would be what items aren’t in our emergency kit. Our emergency kit is very extensive and includes items from the basics such as hairpins and safety pins to a clothes steamer and iron. We have added more practical items to our emergency kit including nails, hammer and staple gun that we had to use for an outdoor wedding to tack down an aisle runner on a wood deck.

IV. Calligraphy and Weddings……your thoughts?
Beautiful wedding stationery isn’t complete without calligraphy. Calligraphy is a true art form and can be incorporated into any element of your wedding from the invitations to place cards to table numbers and beyond. Calligraphy + Wedding = MM Ink Designs.

V. What has been your favorite/most unique event to date?
Our favorite event was Wedding Soiree’s Wedding Planner workshop we held last year. We created three vignettes (ceremony, lounge area and reception) in rich colors of aqua and orange, thus allowing us to showcase our décor styling. It also offered us an opportunity for us to mentor other aspiring wedding planners.

VI. What trends are you most looking forward to incorporating in your next event?
The color purple is a trendy color, but also very elegant and hip. We can’t wait to incorporate the color purple in new, exciting ways this year.

Ohhhh......purple! Stay tuned for some color inspiration. Thanks Gail!

Happy Birthday to my Wonderful Mother!

My mother celebrated her 60th Birthday this year and we had a birthday celebration in her honor during the Thanksgiving holiday. She was radiant and seeing her glow made everyone in the room appreciate life and the blessings we have been given.

I cannot describe in words how excited I was to hand letter her birthday invitation set!! They were printed on light blue Arturo paper (my mom's favorite color). I chose a copperplate lettering style with flourished capitals to suit the venue (seafood restaurant). I also added silver accents which looked really nice on the blue paper. A special thanks to Peggy Peele for helping me decide on the cardstock and getting them printed. Happy Birthday mom and we love you!

MM Ink has joined Wedding Soiree

I am so thrilled to announce that I am now a member of the Wedding Soiree team! I met Gail a few years ago and have always been so impressed with her work and attention to detail when bringing her client's dreams to life. You may remember seeing Gail on WE's Platinum Weddings where they featured her clients Tanya & Jonathan's wedding. And her business partner Hester, is no excpetion. They make a great team and I am so happy to join them at the Decatur studio. It's such a beautiful space and I am looking forward to meeting my clients there for consultations.

If you are all about style, the details, sophistication and all things wonderful, then Wedding Soiree is your choice!

Melissa & Jason

Melissa requested my calligraphy services for her wedding and she knew just what she wanted. It all paid off with the help of her wedding planner, Ashley Baber. Her wedding pictures are stunning! I enjoyed working on Melissa and Jason's names for their invitations and wedding programs. I also did place cards for the bridal party, threaded place cards for the bride and groom, reserved signs and a sign for their guest book table. Congrats Melissa and Jason!
